Maa Durga|Navratri Special Blog

Hi readers, First of all, Shubh Navratri to all of you. So, this is the navratri special blog. It will be a bit inclined towards spirituality but I hope that you will understand and like the concept.

Ma Durga is one of the oldest, most powerful and widely worshipped of the great Hindu mother goddesses, claiming the very name of Jagadamba, the "Mother of the Universe".She has the power to create, sustain and dissolve the entire universe, to put the soul under the bondage of maya or release it into the Supreme Brahman beyond all limitations.

Maa Durga arises from Agni, the Vedic deity of fire and light as a protective force, as is mentioned in the ancient Vedic Durga Sukta. All the Devatas arise through Agni, the flame of immortal consciousness within us that brings our spiritual potentials into manifestation.

Durga literally refers to difficulty. She takes us across all difficulties like a ship across the sea, the great Vedic metaphor for going beyond all the sorrow of our Samsaric or worldly existence. Durga Devi delivers us from darkness to light, from non-being to being, from death to immortality.

Ma Durga is the protective form of Shakti, burning up all ignorance, as her fiery nature energises our highest motivation. Her radiant wisdom dispells the darkness within us, removing inertia, turbulence and attachment. She represents the golden-red flame in the spiritual heart, where we learn to concentrate deeply in order to experience enduring meditative bliss.

Durga as Agni, the Vedic deity of speech, is the power of the divine word, the mantric vibration of cosmic intelligence that is our inner guide and guru. Agni is invoked as the first of the divine powers that manifest the divine light within us. Unless we have awakened that divine flame, will and awareness, our spiritual practices may not take us beyond the illusions of our own minds.

We must honour her power and her rule over the entire universe. She does not function for our personal benefit or to fulfil our desires.

Ma Durga is not a mere formation of human thought, an image or archetype of our minds or culture. She is Adi Shakti, the inmost power of consciousness, ever taking shape within and around us as the creative and transformative force that is the essence of the cosmic life.

It is the greatness of India that Ma Durga represents its inner reality and guiding spiritual force. This same Durga becomes the Yoga Shakti that arises like a flame within the mind, expanding and uplifting our awareness to the universal self.

{ I have added photos of diyas or flame to represent the "SHAKTI" or the divine energy }

May that supreme Durga Shakti arise within all! May we have the receptivity to allow it to both purify our faults and energise our highest aspirations! May Maa Durga bless you! 😇

10 Least known Photography genres- Part 1

Hi readers, once again welcome to my new blog post. Photography includes many types but today I am going to introduce you to 10 genres or types of photography that you don't know about or you don't have much info about it. So, let's indulge in the world of knowledge.....

1. Adventure Photography - Anything adventurous, from hiking to scuba diving, photographed in great outdoors comes in this genre. It includes stunning landscapes and challenging shooting conditions. Hiking, biking, backpacking and camping with gear is the thing that photographers of this genre are very familiar and comfortable with.

2. City-scape photography - It is the representation of the physical aspects of a city, metropolis or an urban area either in the day or at the night time. It incorporates different aspects like Fashion, Sports or Event  Photography, generally taken in a candid manner. Usually these photos illustrate a story that is newsworthy, educational or informative.

4. Fine Art Photography - Fine Art Photography involves photography as well as conceptual ideas. In this genre, the photographer tries to convey a message, an idea or emotion or concept through it's photo. Here, capturing is not the main purpose. The message can be artistic statements too.

5. Fish Eye Photography - This genre of photography completely depends upon one thing i.e. extreme panoramic perspective created by the fish eye lens. Due to huge field of view and strong visual distortion, it is also called "Wild Beasts" in the world of camera lenses. In reality, these lenses are much more than curiosities. Tips for a successful photo session....

Hello readers, are you looking for some photo shoot tips to make your photos more attractive. So, here I am gonna give you some tips for a successful photo session, which I have concluded by reading many articles. Whether you are a photographer or a model, this blog will surely be helpful. This blog post can be too long or too boring maybe but these tips will surely help you out. So please check it out once....

Pre-Shoot Tips....
Step 1: Choose your concept or theme - Choose a good concept or theme that you like. It can be related to any movie, TV Show or any book that you like. But remember to have more than one themes or no theme at all. Search online for photos related to your theme or of your choice to use as a reference for your shoot.

Step 2: Pick up the right location - Decide where and when you are going to have the photo shoot. Is it matches to your theme or not? Is it already exists or you have to make a custom set for it?

If you are shooting indoors, when is the best time to have the photo shoot? Decide where you are gonna have the photo session. Pick up a place with good lighting and enough space.

Step 3: Choose the right equipment - It is extremely important to choose the right equipments for your photo session. You can also rent or borrow the extra gear that you might want.

  • In portrait photography, the focus is generally on the subject's face. So, a portrait photographer should make sure that they have a camera that captures the facial expressions clearly.
  • Wedding Photography requires a professional photographer to know how to capture a variety and a lot of captures without having a lot of time to set up. So, a wedding photographer should make sure to pack a variety of lenses to use in different parts of the wedding.

Step 4 : Make sure your subject feels comfortable - Do make sure that your subject feels comfortable in front of the camera and you behind the camera.

  • Talking to your model before the shoot is the best way to establish a fruitful rapport.
  • Before the shoot, try to explain your idea or what you want from the shoot to your model, so that models can portray your ideas in a more better way.
  • Your models too can have some amazing ideas for the photo session. So make sure you interact with them to have the best results possible.
  • Communicate with them throughout the shoot.
  • Take frequent breaks so that everyone feels energized and refreshed.
  • Follow up with them to make them comfortable.
  • Play their favourite music during the shoot to help them pose more naturally.(if possible)
Step 5: Looks matter!!  You should final the look of your model before the shoot. If your model decides to wear make up, make sure it doesn't get over. Jewellery and accesories should be kept to minimum ( unless you are having a pure traditional photo shoot or you are the bride). Don't wear the shades of outfits that blend too much with your surroundings or in which you aren't comfortable with.

Tips for the shoot....

Play with the lighting: The ability to play or to control the ambient light will allow you to control the mood of your shots. Bad lighting can ruin the photos of even the most attractive person, so it is very much important to control the lighting. You can use accessories like flash or reflectors to play with the light available. To get pleasing results, you can use diffused lights or reflectors from more than one point in front of your model. If you are not mindful of your lighting and in control, you won't get the best results from your photo shoot.

Don't fiddle with your camera during the shoot: You need to focus on your model and not only on your camera during the shoot. The more attention you will pay to your model, the better your photographs will be. Giving more attention and time to your camera and playing with the settings during the shoot can lead to failure. You should know the settings of your camera for the desired style of photos. If you are engaged with your camera, you won't engage enough with your model, your model will find it more difficult to relax and pose (unless they are truly professional).

Ready, Set, Shoot: Start taking pictures, be creative. If you are shooting outdoors, don't be embarrassed by people looking at you. It's better to feel embarrassed for a moment and get those amazing shots than to regret later. You will get some amazing pictures, so don't be shy my honey!!

Pro Tips.....

  • Be creative, experiment with outfits, jewellery, pose, expression, composition, and lighting and background(if possible). If you have already got your desired shot, then also try something different. Sometimes, the best photos come from the spontaneous and unguarded moments.

  • Have some props: Props will make your photos more interesting and eye catching. Whether you are shooting indoors or outdoors, props will help you to make your photos more attractive or to add a meaning to it. Look for objects in your surroundings that would make interesting additions to your pictures.
  • If you are shooting indoors, you can use streamers, balloons or smoke bombs to make your photos more attractive.
  • Incase you are shooting indoors, you can use fairy lights, flowers, food, books, handbags or just anything that you can put your hand on will help.

  • [Especially for indoor shoot] - Experiment with your backdrop: You can play with your backdrop to make your photos look more amazing. You can use fairy lights, any beautiful carpet or any sheet of cloth or canvas etc incase of indoor shoot. If outdoors, you can use graffiti or textured walls to make your photographs look more fabulous.
