An Emerging Home Baker

 From baking as a hobby to baking as a business...

I was overjoyed with the idea of writing a blog for a home - baker of our locality. The reviews online about her cakes are as sweet as the cake itself. All her cakes are 100% eggless and you just send the design for the cake and you will get the cake alike the deign + fast delivery. My mouth is still watering while writing for her. It was pleasure working with her.....

When the pandemic confined people to their homes, baking emerged as a popular means to overcome anxiety and stress, and even as a source of income and empowerment. This is the story of a home baker with a story like this. 

I am talking about Neelu Mishra of Mahadev Ghat, Raipur. She has studied from Bhilai Institute of Technology, Raipur. From the first year itself, she knew how to make the base of cake and had an interest in baking but has not done any special course in baking. And as most of the people in their busy life, she got the chance to pursue her hobby in lockdown. She observed that in this pandemic time, most of the people preferred home baked food and the business of home-baking flourished. She also started distributing her cakes to neighbour and relatives and it got much praises.

As it is well said that "You never know where life takes you." Just like this, motivated  by the compliments and praises she got, her hobby of baking converted into her business in December 2020 and it is flourishing till date.

She also has interest in dance and other fields of art too that needs a touch of creativity.

Currently, she is working with the concept of cloud kitchen with 5-10 cakes per day.

Talking about the future plans, she wants to continue her home bakery until she gets a good number of order per day as it needs a good amount of experience, networking and skills to shift from a small scale to a large scale business. She is also trying to add new varieties for her customers.

For now, her main concern is "The Satisfaction of her Customers". Whether I makes a limited amount of cakes but these cakes should satisfy my customers so that they come again and again to me, she says. According to her, even though home bakers get less orders but they can give their full attention from taste to customisation in their orders. So currently, she would continue on the concept of Cloud Kitchen.

Talking about the hands behind these wonderful and delicious cakes, there is another little baker, Nikita Mishra, her younger sister. The baking work is handled by Neelu herself, while the Icing and customisation work is mainly done by Nikita.(and personally, I feel like she knows Icing very well). Their parents also help them in this by marketing and networking.

Personal Review - I have personally tasted her cake and pastries and it was FANTASTIC!! We ordered the cake from her on my mom's birthday and it was really good, everybody in the family liked it. She makes one of the yummiest cakes that I have tasted in Raipur. I personally recommend you to taste her cakes once and I am sure that you will love it. You can get from beautifully personalized cake to amazing mystery boxes in an affordable amount. 😋😍
